Ho-ho-hmmm…10 holiday content ideas to inspire your creativity
Stuck, tired or uninspired with what to write, post or share as we head into the busiest last few weeks of the year? I’ve got you!
We’re coming up on one of the most hectic seasons of the year, which can make the idea of creating fresh content more overwhelming than usual.
Try one of these fun ideas for when life gets a little “extra” and you need to get content out fast.
1. Give old content new life. There’s no shame in taking content and video you’ve already created and repurposing it. Simply re-share it or give it the ol’ spit and shine to freshen it up.
Many people in your audience never saw it the first time around. And by now, you likely have new followers who would be interested in seeing it.
2. Repurpose old graphics. Repost a tip you’ve shared before and give it a fresh graphic. Voila! Try Microsoft Bing’s Pixar AI for a cute graphic like I created for this post.
3. Expand on a tip. Go through an old blog post or newsletter and pull a tip that you could expand on to create an entirely new blog post, social media post or email.
4. Share a video. Video is huge right now on social media. Pull a tip or insight you’ve written and turn it into a video reel you can share.
For example, show how to make a healthy holiday snack, do an exercise technique properly, or organize holiday decorations in a time-lapse.
5. Cross-pollinate. Collaborate with other practitioners to take over each other’s audiences for a day. You write (or re-purpose) a post or email for their audience and they write for yours.
6. Create a holiday challenge. Since people are getting pulled in multiple directions, keep it short, valuable and relevant. For example, if your audience is stressed moms, you might share a tip a day for five days to stay healthy during the holiday season. (Make it specific to your service.)
Each person who shares the post, tags a friend or comments, gets entered into a drawing for a gift card for one of your services or products (which they choose to gift to a loved one or use themselves). Celebrate the winner at the end of the challenge.
7. Share the love. Promote another practitioner who frequently refers business to you. Talk about why you value this partnership.
8. Think seasonally. Does your audience face specific barriers over the holiday season that you can help address? Share your tips, grow your audience.
In December, you could talk about how to properly lift heavy packages, safe outdoor decorating, general winter safety, seasonal affective disorder, proper hand washing, or health issues that tend to crop up during the holiday season for your specific audience—along with your favorite prevention tips.
(Remember some of the information you take for granted could be a brand new idea to your audience. Don’t assume they already know what you know!)
9. Address a FAQ. What’s a question or concern you often get from your clients or potential clients? Answer it in an email, blog post or social media post.
10. Share a "My Favorite Things" list. Oprah made the favorite things list a traditional favorite and it’s so easy to adapt.
Share resources, businesses and products that you love and often find yourself recommending to clients. Make sure these things are relevant to your audience and don’t forget to include one of your products or services as a “favorite thing” (just don’t make it ALL about you).
If you commonly refer to a particular product, see about becoming an affiliate. Amazon has an affiliate program. You could also create affiliations with other business owners.
